About Us

Welcome to The Peaceful Place Yoga

The Peaceful Place Yoga offers friendly, down-to-earth yoga classes in Gedney, near Long Sutton & Holbeach, Lincolnshire, as well as online yoga you can join from home.

This is yoga for real people and real bodies.

You might arrive feeling stiff, stressed, tired, completely out of sorts or simply ready for an hour that’s yours. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced or particularly good at switching off. You just need to turn up.

Classes bring together Hatha yoga, mindful movement, breathwork, yoga philosophy and proper relaxation.

We’ll move in ways that can help build strength, mobility and balance. We’ll explore the breath and notice what’s happening in the body. And we’ll make space to slow down too, because I believe what happens when we stop can be every bit as valuable as what happens when we’re moving.

No two bodies in the room are the same, so there’s no expectation that everyone’s practice should look the same either. You’ll be offered options and encouraged to find what works for your body that day.

Some weeks we’ll move slowly. Some weeks we’ll challenge ourselves more. We’ll breathe, we’ll wobble, occasionally we’ll laugh, and there will always be time at the end to properly rest.

You’ll also discover that yoga is about much more than the poses. I weave simple yoga philosophy, mindfulness and reflection throughout our practices, giving you things to explore on the mat that might just be useful when you step back into everyday life.

you are always invited to take what you need from your practice and leave the rest.

I also collaborate with a wonderful sound healer Mel, we offer seasonal yoga and soundbath events and I also offer an annual yoga retreat in Europe. You can find out more about these in the events section or on my socials.

Whether you’re completely new to yoga, coming back after some time away or looking for a different way to practise, you’re very welcome.

In-person yoga classes are held in Gedney Victory Hall conveniently just off the A17, close to Long Sutton, Holbeach, Sutton Bridge and Spalding, with online yoga classes also available.

Steph

Hi, I’m Steph

I created The Peaceful Place Yoga because yoga has given me so much more than I ever expected when I first stepped onto a mat.

Yes, it’s helped me move and feel better in my body, which is particularly important to me as someone living with arthritis. But somewhere along the way, yoga became about much more than the physical practice.

The movement, the breath, the philosophy and simply learning to notice what’s going on within me have all changed the way I approach life off the mat too.

And that’s the yoga I love sharing.

I’m fascinated by the traditional philosophy of yoga, but you’ll usually hear me talking about it in a way that makes sense in real life. Less trying to become the perfect yogi and more noticing when you’re gripping onto something, running on empty, being hard on yourself or perhaps just need to stop for five minutes. 🤣

My own body has also taught me that there isn’t one “right” way to practise.

I live with arthritis, so some days I can do more than others. That’s helped shape a teaching style where you’re encouraged to explore what feels right for you rather than trying to copy the person on the mat next to you.

My approach is gentle, but please don’t confuse gentle with easy. We can build strength, challenge our balance, explore our edges and still treat our bodies with kindness while we’re doing it.

I don’t believe yoga is about being bendy or getting yourself into impressive shapes.

For me, it’s about getting to know yourself a little better.

Your body. Your breath. Your thoughts. What you need. And maybe taking a little of what you discover on the mat back into the rest of your life.

That’s what The Peaceful Place Yoga is really about.
